How can I create a new Gmail account
First, you need to know how to sign up for a Gmail account
To Setup Gmail Account – Open Google Gmail Sign Up page
Enter your phone number and click on create account button as shown below
Select your reason of creation as shown
Enter the required basic details, such as your First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, and Gender.
Select your email address in two ways. First, you can use auto-generated email addresses as shown below. Alternatively, you can create a custom email address by clicking on create your own Gmail address.
Provide email address of your choice but please note if the email address already exists then you have to provide different email address
Gmail App Password Rules
Once you finalize your email address, enter your new password. It is very important step. Your Gmail password is the main gate keeper hence it is important to make it very strong.
Password Rules
- Include Uppercase(A-Z) and Lowercase(a-z) letters
- Should include numbers (0-9)
- Always include special characters like (!, @, #, $, %, &, *, etc.)
- Create a minimum 12 character password, longer is more secure.
- Which terms to avoid in your password – Your name, date of birth or anything you have posted online anywhere in the internet.
- DO NOT INCLUDE any personal information in your password
- Try using unpredictable combination of words like – “PurpleMonkey@!1189”

Set Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Open your Google Chrome browser
First click on Google Apps option then click the Account symbol
Click on Security on the left side panel and go to “How you sign in to Google” section. It is recommended to make use of all the options available under this section. For Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) click on “2-Step Verification”
First add a mobile number as it will be used as a primary contact for all the communication related to your email address. After adding phone number click on “Turn on 2-Step verification” button.
Let’s understand why its called 2 Step, when you or a hacker tries to login to a new device then as a primary contact a code will be sent to your mobile for verification and once you enter the code a secondary check will be prompted using “Second Steps” mentioned above.
Best way is to “Install Google Authenticator” in your mobile which provide you an instant short lived code to access your account. It is highly recommended as the code is dynamically generated and hence it very tough for hacker to get it. Note : Mobile device should be with you.
Once the 2-Step authentication is setup then a green tick mark will appear as shown
Verify Your Recovery Information
If you forget your password and get locked out of your Gmail account, you can use your recovery email address or phone number. Consequently, you can generate a new password and log back into your account
To set recovery email and phone number you have to go to Google Apps and Security as we did in the above steps
Update recovery email address and phone number in “Security” section on the left side panel
Review and Adjust Privacy Settings
At last, we can now set our Gmail account’s privacy setting. For this we have to go to Google Apps and then on the left side panel click on “Data & Privacy”.
